The Fruit Market, Humber Street.

The images in this gallery have been kindly sent to us by Paul Hurst from Beverley. Paul has been an amateur photographer for over fifty years starting at the age of ten. His first 'proper' photograph was of the Flying Scotsman pulling out of Paragon Station and taken from Park Street bridge.

Although taken in the nineties and the market was in it’s latter days of trading, it still shows a hive of activity from early morning (5am) to mid morning, buyers, deliveries barrow boys etc.

It shows a glimpse into the past of what was a bustling trade that was started in the 19th century to take advantage of the river trade and the upcoming motorway networks.
