Building skills and providing training opportunities to people in and around Hull is a key part of the Hull: Yorkshire Maritime project and supports Hull’s City Plan, to create jobs and upskill local people to fill these roles.

Over the life of this project there will be a range of apprenticeships, internships and traineeships in various areas to offer vital and transferable skills which will help gain employment.

Conservator & Engagement Officer

Fixed Term: 3 years from date of appointment

We are seeking to appoint a qualified conservator who is enthusiastic about volunteer and public engagement, and has experience of working with museum or heritage collections.

This fixed-term post will play a key role in assessing, preparing, conserving and arranging external conservation of our maritime collections, during a major museum refurbishment as part of our major £27.5 million project, Hull: Yorkshire’s Maritime City.

This post will train volunteers and staff in appropriate practices and will be focused on delivering the project’s milestones.

The post will help to identify priority items for conservation and future display, and will design and undertake assessment of the collection with recommended strategies for long-term preservation.
