25th April 2025

Following significant progress along the edge of Queens Gardens, the footpath along Guildhall Road is to reopen in phases, improving access in this area.

Part of the footpath will reopen from today, Friday 25 April improving access for pedestrians.

The redevelopment of Guildhall Road is designed to enhance the area’s functionality and aesthetics, providing an improved experience for residents, visitors, and commuters alike.

As part of the refurbishment, the footpath along Guildhall Road has been widened to accommodate increased pedestrian traffic, offering a safer and more inviting route through one of Hull’s most recognised green spaces.

Parking bays which were within the works area will now be available for use.

This reopening of Guildhall Road is a testament to Hull’s commitment to enhancing public spaces and preserving its cultural heritage. The ongoing improvements to Queens Gardens are part of a broader vision to revitalise the city’s historic green areas, creating an accessible, vibrant environment for all.

Gillian Osgerby, Hull City Council’s interim assistant director of major projects and infrastructure, said: “The Queens Gardens refurbishment continues to progress well, and this partial reopening of Guildhall Road is a key milestone.”

The Queens Gardens refurbishment will continue over the coming months, with further enhancements planned to ensure this iconic space remains a central hub for both the local community and visitors to Hull.
