As part of the Queens Gardens transformation, new art installations will celebrate Hull’s maritime past.

Six stone waymarkers based on the forms of the original dock edge mooring posts are being constructed from marble with a special nod to Hull’s maritime history.

Using three 3D modelling scans from well-known artefacts from the Maritime Museum’s collection, by renowned artists, Heinrich and Palmer, the waymarkers are being manufactured in one of the largest stonemasonry factories in England.

StoneCIRCLE based in Basingstoke, Hampshire regularly collaborate with artists to produce site-specific artwork, using waterjet and CNC cutting and other carving skills.

The Maritime Markers will be installed along Guildhall Road later this year.
