Our Curatorial Team is undertaking a costume review in preparation for new displays in the Maritime Museum.
Potential costumes for display in the new galleries are being carefully examined and assessed.
The review includes reviewing the potential conservation needs for each item and looking at how they might be mounted on mannequins.
Research is also being undertaken on each costume to enhance their interpretation.
At the end of this process, the options will be narrowed down to a final list for display.
Here are some children’s uniforms from the Hesslewood and Newland orphanages.
