Work to enhance Princes Dock Street and transform it into a more welcoming space is now complete.
The works were delivered by contractor C R Reynolds and funded by National Highways and Hull City Council as part of a broader project to improve the public realm and pedestrian experience in Hull city centre.
This initiative forms part of the city’s ongoing efforts to improve the waterfront, enhance accessibility, and support local businesses. The improvements focused on:
- Resurfacing the footpath to create a safer and more attractive pedestrian route.
- Replacing parklets with two new build-out areas, providing additional space for local businesses and improving pedestrian flow.
- Upgrading street furniture and introducing new seating, creating more opportunities for people to relax and enjoy the area.
- Tree planting and landscaping, adding greenery and improving the overall environment.
To support the vibrant hospitality scene, Hull City Council worked closely with businesses throughout the project and paused construction during the busy summer months.
Gillian Osgerby, Programme Director for Hull Maritime at Hull City Council, said: “These improvements have made Princes Dock Street a more attractive and accessible space for residents and visitors alike. It’s an important step in continuing to enhance the city centre experience and support local businesses.”
Princes Dock Street is also a key part of Hull’s wider maritime trail, connecting some of the city’s most treasured maritime landmarks. New signage has also been installed to share the story of the local area and its rich heritage.
