Artists’ impressions have been released to show how three city centre streets could look following major improvements.

Residents and businesses are invited to learn more about the major upgrades to Humber Dock Street, High Street and Princes Dock Street and shape the plans at a series of events which will take place on:

  • Friday 2 August, 11am – 3pm at Trinity Market, Trinity Square
  • Saturday 3 August, 11am – 3pm at Princes Quay Shopping Centre, East Entrance, opposite Millies Cookies
  • Thursday 8 August, 11am – 3pm at Princes Quay Shopping Centre, East Entrance, opposite Millies Cookies

Hull City Council delivered a major programme of street improvements as part of the preparations to host UK City of Culture 2017.

Now, with funding from National Highways and Hull City Council, three city centre locations will benefit from works to create more flexible, accessible and inviting spaces for all.

The three key locations – Humber Dock Street, High Street and Princes Dock Street – are part of a new maritime trail that will connect the city’s maritime treasures being transformed by the wider Hull Maritime programme.

The plans, by LDA Design Consulting Ltd, include the creation of more inclusive and accessible spaces with new landscaping and tree planting, new seating and improved heritage interpretation as well as the introduction of a linear park on Humber Dock Street.

What Humber Dock Street could look like

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, Portfolio Holder for Transportation, Roads and Highways. said: “The designs provide a good insight as to what the three popular locations could look like in the future.

“These events are your chance to view and help shape the proposals. By making these improvements to the city centre streets which form part of a new maritime trail, they will become more inviting spaces for us all to enjoy.”
