3rd February 2025

Hull’s celebrated maritime guided tours are set to return for the 2025 season, beginning on Saturday 15 February during the half-term school holiday.

A dedicated team of 17 White Badge accredited volunteers will once again lead free guided tours that explore Hull’s rich maritime heritage.

The tours, which proved a huge success in 2024, will run every Thursday and Saturday at 10.30am, with an additional Sunday morning walk at 11.30am and Sunday afternoon tour at 1.30pm.

Maritime tour guides are also part of the team delivering free guided tours of Wilberforce House, Hull and East Riding Museum, Streetlife Museum and Ferens Art Gallery. The tours take place at different locations each week depending on volunteer availability. For more information visit here.

Key Highlights:

  • Starting Point: Museum Quarter gardens, outside the Hull and East Riding Museum.
  • Full Tour Duration: Approximately 2.5 hours, covering key landmarks such as:
    • Future home of the Arctic Corsair at North End Shipyard
    • Queens Gardens
    • Exterior of the Maritime Museum
    • Spurn Lightship’s exterior at Hull Marina
    • Blaydes House, Trinity House, and Hull Marina.
  • Shorter Sunday Afternoon Route: The 1.30pm tour lasts 1.5 hours, covering half of the full route.

In 2024, the maritime walks saw a 16 per cent increase in participation and were Highly Commended at the prestigious Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (REYTA) in the ‘Remarkable Experience of the Year’ category, reflecting the growing popularity of this unique city experience.

Whether you’re new to Hull or a long-time resident, these tours provide an engaging and informative way to see our historic waterfront.”

Gary Ward, Volunteer guide, said: "I’m really looking forward to the start of this year's Maritime tours and showing off beautiful Hull to visitors from far and wide."
