Significant improvements to Princes Dock Street are now underway.
This initiative is part of the city's ongoing efforts to enhance public spaces and support local businesses.
The improvements will focus on the following key areas:
- resurfacing the footpath
- replacing parklets with two new build-out areas for local businesses and enhance pedestrian flow
- upgrades to street furniture in the western dockside area
- installing new street furniture to encourage longer visits, along with new trees and landscaping.
To ensure the safety and convenience of pedestrians, diversions will be in place throughout the duration of the works. A lane closure will also be necessary during the phased improvements.
Hull City Council has been in contact with businesses in the area and will continue to work with them throughout the construction phase of the project.
Gillian Osgerby, Hull City Council’s interim assistant director of major projects and infrastructure, said: "It’s great to see work getting underway to this busy street. These enhancements to Princes Dock Street will create a more inviting and accessible space for residents and visitors alike, while also supporting our local businesses."
The improvements to Princes Dock Street are part of a broader initiative to rejuvenate Hull's city centre and create more flexible, accessible, and inviting spaces for all. This project aims to further enhance Hull's cultural and economic growth and be part of a new maritime trail.
Work is expected to be complete later this year.
