Colliderfest, the highly anticipated Science and Arts Festival taking place between Friday 14 and Sunday 16 March celebrating science, technology, and creativity, has announced its packed programme.
It features a line-up of science based shows, activities and performances to inspire the next generation.
Headline shows will include performances from well-known children’s presenter, author and scientist, Maddie Moate and Matthew Tosh, an inspirational speaker, educator and pyrotechnician.
The two shows will join a full programme of over 40 events that focus on topics ranging from AI, space and volcanoes to climate change, nature conservation, and microbiology.


Get hands-on with experiments and activities in three different zones across the city centre - the Discovery, Fusion and the Exploration Zone.
For the older audience join in the ‘Colliderfest Lates’ which will feature everything from quizzes, talks, workshops, films and demonstrations.
The evening spectacle ‘Colliderfest After Dark’ on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 March, from 6.30 - 9.30pm will bring something special with a bright, psychedelic light and sound installation across Queen Victoria Square, Beverley Gate, Whitefriargate and Trinity Square.
Colliderfest, taking place during British Science Week, promises to be an exciting, educational, and immersive experience with something for all the family to enjoy. Whether you're a science enthusiast, budding inventor, or simply curious about the latest advancements in the world of STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics, this festival offers a platform to connect with experts and share in the excitement of discovery.
The event will take place alongside Hull’s second Cultural Tides Conference on Friday 14 March, when the Culture and Heritage Strategy 2025-2030 will launch at Hull Truck Theatre. Book your tickets here.
Maddie Moate, award-winning presenter, author and EduTuber, best known for her family content on YouTube, as well as the BBC, will deliver her new science show, straight from the pages of her brand-new book to the live stage, 'How Does It Work? With Maddie'. From fridges and fire engines to microwaves and roundabouts, Maddie will uncover how things work through fun demonstrations, games, quizzes and lots of audience interaction!
Matthew Tosh, brings you Pyrotrickery, exploring the awe of fire and fire-effects that are used around the world to entertain, excite and enthral. From fireworks to special effects, we'll go on an explosive journey into the world of flames and sparks to discover the science behind fiery entertainment at festivals, on stage, and on screen. Matthew will be revealing some behind-the-scenes secrets from his event and TV work to show how artistic thinking and some serious maths, enable him to do his job safely.
This exciting new festival, organised by University of Hull, Hull Maritime and Hull City Council in partnership with Hull Museums and Gallery, will be an evolution of the beloved Hull Science Festival and is set to be a regular event in Hull’s cultural calendar.

Colliderfest will also feature a range of interactive workshops, panel discussions, and hands-on activities designed to engage attendees and encourage them to explore their own curiosity about the world around them.
