The Hull Maritime Foundation has launched a new programme to enable people to support the Hull Maritime project.

By becoming a patron people will make a commitment to safeguarding Hull’s maritime heritage for future generations and helping the Maritime Museum to showcase it throughout the world.

In return, patrons will have exclusive opportunities to get closer to the history that they love along with early access to events.

Becoming a patron of the Hull Maritime Foundation will extend the collaborative spirit and pride voiced for Hull’s Maritime Project in recent months, enabling people to be part of the exciting journey of creating a new maritime experience for Hull, a city shaped by the sea.

You can now become a patron of the Hull Maritime Foundation

Lord Haskins, Chair of Hull Maritime Foundation, said: “The Hull Maritime Foundation Patrons Programme has been developed and launched for people who share that passion and who want to be part of the efforts to protect and celebrate our maritime heritage.

“By becoming a patron, you will make an important contribution to the rich variety of aspects that make up the Hull Maritime project.

“The Foundation has been set-up to fully support the delivery of this hugely important and transformational project, celebrating Hull’s role as a thriving maritime city.”

Mike G. Fell OBE, FCILT, said: “The first donor to Hull Maritime Foundation, said: “As a former Port Director in Hull, I have a longstanding interest in its maritime history. Hull Maritime Foundation has similar passions and this is why I decided to donate the royalties derived from the sale of my book, The Port of Hull and Its Railways, to the Foundation.

“I wish it every success in showcasing the city’s maritime heritage as a major visitor attraction and demonstrating the continuing importance of the port.”

Proceeds from the Patrons Programme will ensure that we:

  • Care for our maritime treasures as we should
  • Tell the amazing stories of invention and ingenuity, bravery and perseverance and triumph and disaster that are held in our stunning maritime collections
  • Increase access to our amazing history and artefacts
  • Create a fantastic, new, heritage-based visitor attraction in Hull

The Patrons Programme offers two levels of support, starting from as little as £120 a year and will contribute to the £2.6m gap. The project is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Hull City Council.
