20th May 2019

On Tuesday 14 May, the Hull Maritime Foundation received its first ever donation.

Diane, who has been a volunteer since Hull’s year as City of Culture in 2017, met Lord Haskins at the Maritime Museum to make her donation. Speaking to Diane, she told us that the Maritime Museum was one of her favourite buildings in the city and that making her donation was something she really wanted to do.

Now a volunteer with Absolutely Cultured, Diane has been volunteering at events for the Hull: Yorkshire’s Maritime City project since last year, usually at the Maritime Museum!

The Hull Maritime Foundation, which is chaired by Lord Haskins, was established last year with the purpose of supporting the Hull: Yorkshire’s Maritime City project. Funding secured by the foundation will enable the project to achieve its ambitious goals which will conserve and promote Hull’s significant maritime heritage.

A patrons’ programme will be launching shortly which will allow those who are passionate about Hull’s maritime history to get closer to it. This will also help to raise much-needed funds for the Hull: Yorkshire’s Maritime City project.

If you are interested in making a donation to the Hull Maritime Foundation or would like to know more about the patrons’ programme, please contact our Fundraising Manager, Helen May:
