25th June 2019

On Thursday 4 July Heritage Learning will be running their annual CPD event at the Ferens Art Gallery. This year the event is ‘S.T.E.A.M. – Igniting learning through science art and culture!’

As part of the day, delegates will have the chance to have their say on some of the exciting plans that the Hull: Yorkshire’s Maritime City project has for local schools. What’s more, there will also be an opportunity to take a look at Heritage Learning’s brand new maritime handling collection as well an amazing VR experience.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Professor Mark Lorch - Professor of Science Communication at the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Hull University – who will be speaking about ‘Including Culture in S.T.E.A.M.’ and how to use the arts in conjunction with science, technology, engineering and mathematics in the classroom.

Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in a number of workshops throughout the day, ranging from ‘A Day in the Life of an Artist’ with sculptor Saffron Waghorn, through to an integrated planning workshop, led by Clare Powell, teacher at Dorchester Primary School, which will be a ‘how to guide’ to planning and integrating S.T.E.A.M in a historical context.

There will also be opportunities throughout the day for delegates to plan future visits to Hull Museums through Heritage Learning.

Tickets to the event are £50 per person, which includes lunch and refreshments. For further information or to book your place email heritagelearning@hcandl.co.uk or call 01482318733.
