While documentation work remains on hold for the time being, here are a few further examples of objects which were documented before the current restrictions were put in place.

A North Sea Ferries reusable drawing pad. These were one of a number of complimentary items given to children travelling on North Sea Ferries routes from Hull to Rotterdam and Zeebrugge in the early-mid 1990s.

Netting needle and gauge

Examples of a netting needle and gauge from our collections. They were used to make and repair fishing trawler nets.


Rope sample from Hall’s Barton Ropery Co. Ltd.

A sample of rope from Hall’s Barton Ropery Co. Ltd. The company operated from their rope works in Barton upon Humber from around 1800 until 1989. Founded on the strength of the growing local maritime industry on the Humber, they went on to supply specialist ropes to a range of industries both nationally and internationally.
