A new exhibition, which draws inspiration from the city’s rich maritime heritage, will be on display until Sunday 26 January 2025.

"Waves of Wonder: An Exhibition by Hull's Young Maritime Creatives," is a captivating showcase that highlights the creativity and talent of Hull’s young people

This unique exhibition features imaginative and impactful artworks produced by students from eight secondary schools across Hull.

From the iconic Spurn Lightship to traditional scrimshaw, the students have reimagined Hull’s maritime stories through various artistic mediums, including painting, sculpture, textiles, creative writing, performance, and music. "Waves of Wonder" brings these works together alongside a selection of artworks and objects from other Hull Museums collections, exploring how the sea has inspired the city’s artists, storytellers, and makers for generations.

The eight schools involved in the Young Maritime Creatives project are:

The Boulevard Academy
Sirius Academy West
Sirius Academy North
Trinity House Academy
Frederick Holmes School
The Hub School
Venn Boulevard Centre
Kelvin Hall School.

Visitors to the exhibition can expect a stimulating experience that not only celebrates Hull’s seafaring legacy but also fosters a dynamic dialogue between the city and the ocean. The exhibition will include interactive elements, offering an engaging platform for community involvement and learning.

We hope you enjoy your visit.
