Work to create a new visitor centre at North End Shipyard is making good progress.

The works are progressing to the internal block work on the ground floor, with birdcage scaffolding being erected to complete the tops of the walls, and site the internal steel beams which span across a number of internal steel posts.

The external blockwork has now commenced also, this will be brought up to around the bottom of the window level – the walls will then be cladded from this point upwards.

The external supporting steel work has been fitted, this is the structural element of the North facing balcony which will be completed at a later stage of construction.

The external walls have been fitted with a gas proof membrane and then a layer of insulation has been installed on top of this.
