The search is on for a training contractor to develop our staff and volunteer workforce to promote and deliver the cultural offer of our existing and new attractions.

Hull Maritime will see the Hull Maritime Museum and two historic ships fully refurbished and reopened to the public over the next two years. Staff and volunteer skills and ethos are vital to drive our plans for cultural regeneration and placemaking across the wider museum service and beyond.

Working with experts at Hull Museums, contractors will develop resources and deliver training to a large cohort of new volunteers and existing staff and volunteers to ensure visitors experience an excellent service.

Councillor Mike Ross, Leader of Hull City Council, said: “For residents and visitors to enjoy their experience within the city’s free museums and for them to return, it’s vital they receive a first-class service, a service they deserve. With this dedicated training our staff and volunteers will be trained in delivering excellence and that’s what we strive for.”

The extensive training will include customer care, equalities and health and safety and will be tailored towards a high-quality museum setting. Specialist strands include project and museums sector specific training.

Contractors can bid for one or more strands.
