16th December 2019

Hull City Council’s Cabinet has today (Monday 16 December) given the go-ahead to procure the main elements of the ambitious Hull: Yorkshire’s Maritime City project.

Approval was also given to the proposed procurement processes, the criteria to be used in assessing the bids and the delegation of powers to ensure timely decisions are made.

A tender procurement exercise is expected to launch in the New Year and will go out to market for a range of specialist services, including contracts for the construction, civil engineering, shipbuilding, exhibition and activities, to enable this large-scale project can get underway and deliver a world-class maritime experience.

The National Lottery Heritage Fund awarded Hull City Council a grant of £13.6m on 2 October and this is the next key milestone. The council has also committed £10m to enable the project to come to fruition.
