Role: Community Curator for South Blockhouse exhibition
Application deadline: Midnight, 21 April
Contract Period: May - August 2025
In 2024 and 2025, Hull Maritime has been supporting and working with children aged 11-16 at six local secondary schools to create artworks inspired by the South Blockhouse and the wider themes of “Hull 1540s to 1860s” and “Defending Hull” as part of our Young Maritime Creatives Project. Alongside this work, local community groups, organisations and artists have been exploring the South Blockhouse and responding creatively in unique and engaging ways, funded through the Creative Communities grant scheme.
As a culmination of these projects, we are looking for a freelance curator to support in the creation of a temporary exhibition celebrating and showcasing the artworks created by our local school children and community groups, bringing this forgotten and fascinating part of Hull’s maritime heritage to a
wider audience
