Do you work with children and young people at a school or youth group? Would you like to help us record Hull’s Maritime story? Our fantastic volunteers have hundreds of brilliant maritime stories to tell and we are inviting children and young people from around Hull to help.

What is the project and how do we take part?

Children from primary and secondary schools and youth clubs around the city have the opportunity to submit a question for our volunteers. The best questions will be selected and used to create a filmed archive of the volunteers’ responses to the questions.

If you are interested in taking part, download the volunteer biographies and the relevant question form below and submit your questions by 13 May to chris.willmoth@hcandl.co.uk. You can also get in touch to ask any questions.

If you are a school or community group or youth club download the forms below

At the end of the project, the filmed interviews will be released and you will have the chance to submit your young people’s creative responses to the films, which we will share on our social media channels.

Who are your volunteers?

We are fortunate to have a wide range of volunteers with experience and stories to tell about deep sea trawling, on the docks and even some who work on the docks today. Your students’ questions can be targeted to any of our volunteers.

How will we access the videos?

The videos will initially be released on Hull Maritime’s YouTube channel.
