Primary school pupils have the chance to have their creative writing displayed in the Hull Maritime Museum!

What is the Marvellous Museum Labels Competition?

As part of our new learning resource, The Last Leviathans: the story of Hull's whaling industry, we are giving primary school pupils the chance to write creative labels for nine of the amazing artefacts that will go on display in the Hull Maritime Museum when it reopens.

These labels don't have to be a 'traditional' museum label. They could be sea shanties, poems, stories, or something completely different!

A panel of judges will select their nine favourite labels, one for each object. The winning pupils will then have their labels put on display in the Hull Maritime Museum when it reopens, and will also win an amazing prize for themselves and their school!

The competition will come to a close on Monday 3 October 2022 so be sure to get writing soon!

A stuffed polar bear. This is just one of the artefacts we are giving children the chance to write a creative label about. Maybe your pupils could write a poem about how this polar bear might have made its way to the Hull Maritime Museum?
